Something New for 2012! 06/26/2011
Over the years we have worked hard to make La Maison Rose a special place for our guests. The response has been terrific, and has resulted with happy clients and new friends as they discover the joys of Provence. This year, in addition to continuing to offer La Maison Rose for rent, we are trying something new: Slow Travel Provence: 7-day small-group tours that feature in-depth exploration of French food, wine, art and history. These tours are intended for larger groups than La Maison Rose can accommodate, and for couples who might normally seek out a tour, but are turned off by the idea of tour buses and crowded, expensive tourist sites. Slow Travel Provence represents the natural evolution of our love of travel, history, art, wine and the locally grown and prepared food of Southern France. Our goal is to create a unique, in-depth experience that will allow our guests to leave behind the stress of their daily lives, make new friends, and become a part of the local Provencal community, in the comfort of a fully organized, premium quality, small group tour. With Slow Travel Provence you will cook with master chefs, tour world class wineries, picnic amongst fields of lavender, bake crusty bread in an artisan boulangerie, pick-up gardening tips at an organic vegetable farm, and much more. Each night, rather than hop from hotel to hotel, you will return to our idyllic, centrally located Provencal mas (farmhouse). Our itineraries are designed to the rhythms of the seasons. Each day will be devoted to an in-depth exploration of an aspect of life in Provence--and of course always be highlighted by sumptuous meals, wine and time to simply slow down and relax in the idyllic French countryside. We hope you will take a moment to visit our website to learn more: SLOW TRAVEL PROVENCE WEBSITE See you in Provence soon! Add Comment 2011 Guest Review - "A Keeper" 06/08/2011
Thought we would share the most recent review from our very happy guest Frank from Georgia: "A Keeper" An amazing apartment in the perfect Provencal village. My friend and I stayed here for a week in May 2011 as we explored the area. Bedoin has everything you need to include a couple of great market-based restaurants and two excellent artisan bakeries. Breakfast of fresh bread and breakfast pastries on the deck was a great way to start the day. Likewise, it was nice to get back to Bedoin each evening and relax on the deck with a glass of wine while enjoying the views. The apartment is quite comfortable: kitchen has everything you really need, bedroom is large and quiet, the deck and scenery are perfection, and all the creature comforts are there (washer/dryer, wireless internet, phone, nice den/living area). The owner was quite helpful in planning for our trip and the local property manager, Marianne, met us upon arrival and helped us get settled in (wine and fresh cherries were a nice welcoming touch). We would love to stay here again on our next trip to the area. The 2011 Season Begins 05/11/2011
After a long winter hibernation, La Maison Rose has her shutters open to the sun, and our first guests are basking in wonderful mild spring temperatures. If you have plans to stay with us, feel free to contact us with any questions you have before your visit. Also, after your stay we would love to know your favorite restaurants, villages, etc. And while you are at it, send us copies of your favorite photos so that we can include them in our guest gallery. Finally, if you enjoyed your time in Bedoin please let your friends and family know! Word-of-mouth helps to bring new guests to La Maison Rose, and new guests means we can keep offering what we feel is one of the finest small homes in Provence at a very reasonable price. Have a wonderful time in France! End of the Season 11/05/2010
Our final guests of the year depart this weekend. It's been a wonderful year, and if our guests' feedback is any indicator, La Maison Rose will see some of them in the years to come. We received this nice note: "We have just returned from our holiday in France and your home was the highlight of the trip. Quike frankly, your home was even better than we had hoped for. You certainly have created an easy place for visitors to fit right in. Nothing was missing. Also, Bedoin is a terrific village with many wonderful people that we bonded with." --- Carl Meyer The Meyers were also kind enough to share some of their lovely photography--be sure to check out the Gallery page to enjoy them for yourself! This may be my favorite: Happy travels, and we hope to see you in Provence soon! Ken & Felicia Wallace The "Shoulder" Season 08/16/2010
As the hot summer months come to a close, the mad rush of travel is starting to ease up a little. We are still seeing inquiries for travel in September though, and are reminded of what a wonderful time of year the Fall is to be in Provence. Those 35+ Celsius days are over, replaced by lovely mild temperatures and the occasional brief refreshing rain shower. Fall fruit is in season, and the locals seem happy to be rid of the bustling crowds as they settle into a slightly slower pace. If you are thinking of a last minute trip to France, or are maybe just now planning your lodging for your Fall vacation to Provence, give is a shout. Prices at La Maison Rose are reduced for the "shoulder" season, and with the euro down on the US dollar this is a great time to see France and save a little money. Happy travels! A new link has been added to littlehouseinfrance.com--the Gallery Link. I've gotten the ball rolling by posting a dozen of my images from France, but I would like to add your photos too! Please send your best shots from Provence to littlehouseinfrance@me.com, and I will include my favorites in the Gallery. Ken Provence Painting 07/11/2010
Printed this at Canvas on Demand. It is from a photo that I took in Bedoin, then treated in Photoshop to give it a watercolor feel. I think it came out great! If you have a favorite photo from Bedoin, please share it by sending to littlehouseinfrance@me.com. Parking 05/20/2010
La Maison Rose is fortunate to have a garage for our guests to park their car. Navigating anything larger than a compact car into it, however, can take nerves of steel, as the street is quite narrow. Some guests opt for parking in the convenient and free public village parking lots. It should be noted though, that there are restrictions on parking in these lots when the village hosts special events. The most notable of these is the Monday market. If you leave a car in the village lot Monday mornings, it will be subject to a fine (and could even be removed). Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the parking signage (which of course is in French!). If you are unsure, inquire at the Tourism Office. Better to ask, than to face an unpleasant surprise! But most of all, enjoy your stay! Volcano Trouble Tale 04/17/2010
Our second guests of the year (who happen to also be good friends and neighbors) must count themselves as two of the luckiest people to visit Provence! At a time when nearly every flight into Europe was canceled, they took a chance and headed to Los Angeles International airport anyway with little hope of being able to take their once-in-a-lifetime vacation to France. Miraculously, their flight to Marseille was the only flight of the day allowed to depart (it was re-routed direct to Marseille instead of stopping in Paris as scheduled). With just two hours lost in delay, they arrived safely to La Maison Rose, and are now enjoying the beauty of Provence. We hope all our guests have such good fortune! Ready for Spring 03/21/2010
As Spring approaches, La Maison Rose emerges from her Winter hibernation to prepare for the first guests of the season. This year, our house has a few new exciting features: the first is a brand new stove and oven, which may not sound terribly exciting, but should make cooking in a treat! We have also added a new LCD flatscreen TV and DVD player, and added some plantings and automatic watering system to the rooftop terrace. Finally, we have new phone service that offers our guests unlimited calling and internet service. We hope that these additions make your stay in Provence even better! |
