SUBJECT: THE WALLACE FAMILY ADVENTURE BEGINS
Dear Family and Friends,
Apologies for the mass email, but I have been thinking about the best way to keep our friends and family up to date with the latest happenings, and this seemed like a good way to get the word out.
As many of you are probably aware, we have decided to sell our home in San Gabriel, CA and we are packing up and heading for the untamed wilderness of the South of France.
If this is news to you, I'll give you a second to re-read that sentence...
Yes, we are soon-to-be expats. The reasons are many, somewhat thought out, and it's too late to change our minds anyway because our house just closed escrow. Right now we are surrounded by piles of boxes as we prepare for the shipping company to arrive on Monday with a 20 foot container that will be ocean-bound for France. Everyone is suffering from packing fatigue syndrome. Paige said she dreamt she was bubble-wrapping endless amounts of glasses.
For a brief history of how this all came to be you can catch up on the details on our blog (which we tongue-in-cheek call American Croissants).
The next few weeks before we depart on August 27th will be spend selling or giving away the remainder of the stuff that didn't make the cut. A few things will go to storage, to remain entombed until such day as we return or die. If it's the latter there will be no need for a family feud to determine who gets the contents. It's mostly photo albums and kids' clothing.
These last few weeks will be a race to the finish, and we know that it won't be able to say goodbye to each of you in person before we leave. We will miss you all, and hope that you will consider a trip to Provence to pay us a visit. We will be waiting with a chilled glass of rosé, a fresh baguette and some delicious stinky cheese.
Our plan is to send regular email updates with photos and little stories from France. We also have big plans for our blog. We hope you will read along. Of course if you would rather forget us entirely you can unsubscribe, but I won't lie--that would make us very sad.
Until we see you again...
Amour et Bonne Journée!
Ken, Felicia, Paige and Ryan Wallace
